Overview

Team Marathon reimagines the marathon as a shared experience. Four people split the distance, each running their miles their way, before coming back together for the finish and everything that follows. We were brought in to turn that distinctive format into a bold, ownable brand: one that could welcome a wider running community, build anticipation for a new event and feel just as compelling to participants as it did to commercial partners.

The design

We evolved the identity around the idea of shared achievement, pairing an expressive hand-drawn wordmark with confident typography, a warm high-contrast colour palette and a grainy, movement-led image treatment. The result feels energetic and human rather than polished or corporate, capturing the character of real teams, real friendships and the moments around the miles. The voice is led by “End up somewhere good”, supported by playful lines including “We > Me”, “It’s for all kinds” and “Forget your time. Have a good time.” We carried the visual identity and tone through brand guidelines, launch content, reusable social templates, event applications and a commercial partnership deck.

The impact

The refreshed identity gave Team Marathon a clear, launch-ready platform that makes an unfamiliar race format instantly understandable and inviting. It shifts the focus from individual pace and placing to shared effort, personality and the feeling of finishing together. Built to work everywhere from a social post to a festival flag, the identity helps Team Marathon show up consistently throughout the participant journey without losing the warmth, energy and fun that make the idea distinctive.
