Overview

Set on Cornwall's dramatic Lizard Peninsula, Housel Bay Hotel is surrounded by some of the country's most spectacular coastal walks. They wanted to give guests an easy way to explore the area while creating something that felt true to the hotel's character. We designed an illustrated pocket map that helps visitors discover the coastline on foot, turning practical information into a keepsake worth taking home.

The design

Designed to slip easily into a jacket pocket, the map balances clarity with character. We hand-illustrated the surrounding landscape, highlighting walking routes, landmarks and points of interest, before bringing everything together in a layout that's intuitive to navigate. Every decision, from the typography to the folding format, was made to create something that feels considered, tactile and enjoyable to use.

The impact

The finished map extends the Housel Bay experience beyond the hotel itself, encouraging guests to spend more time exploring the coastline and discovering places they may have otherwise missed. It's a simple piece of print design that adds genuine value to a stay, while giving guests something memorable to keep long after they've returned home.
