Overview

MARI approached Knottfield to develop the initial Electric Summer direction into a complete, practical identity for a new seasonal event at Battersea Power Station. Building from the existing logo, colour and typography, we created clear guidance for using the brand, refined the type hierarchy and palette, and developed the key artwork, social templates and out-of-home formats needed for launch.

The design

The identity captures the feeling of a modern British boardwalk: bold, playful and full of nostalgic summer energy. A confident retro wordmark is paired with sun-faded pinks, vivid coral, warm cream and bright seasonal accents. Polaroid-inspired framing, candid lifestyle photography and simple graphic shapes create a flexible look that moves easily from social stories to large-format print while remaining immediately recognisable.

The impact

The finished toolkit gave MARI and its production partners a clear, consistent way to bring Electric Summer to life. Social templates, key artwork, landscape adaptations and print-ready out-of-home guidance made the campaign easier to scale without losing its character, from digital promotion and supplier artwork to on-site communications.
